Artificial Intelligence.... is it so artificial?
One of the most ominous threats to our spiritual life is the confluence of technology and evil. This threat is ever increasing and necessitates a serious look at how it might invade our lives and betray our humanity. This year's conference will consider this issue through lectures and workshop duscussion. |
WHAT IS
ST. HERMAN CONFERENCE? Discerning God's TruthEach year, on the feast of St. Herman of Alaska, youth of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, gather in a conference for several days of lectures, beautiful hierarchal services and social events.
Yearly, a variety of parishes host the conference and offer their resources to enable such a gathering. The central theme of this year's conference is answering the question of a young person, "How can I Discern the Truth". Quite often a Christian will wonder what we should believe in a world of doubt. In workshops, round table discussions and interaction, young people may discover the tools, insights and skills necessary to decipher God's Truth in our complex world. |
Conference speakersHis Grace, Bishop Luke
Bishop Luke will present a talk about the pitfalls of the age of Artificial Intelligence. Archpriest Peter Perekrestov Fr. Peter is presenting a film and discussion on the legacy of the Russian Church Abroad. His film and lecture will have many insights to Srt. John of San Francisco. Nicholas Ganson
"Standing in Awe of Mystery as an Escape from the Manacles of Ideology" From an Orthodox Christian perspective, standing in awe of mystery offers liberation from the rigid constraints of ideology. Ideologies often reduce reality to simplistic, human-made systems, whereas Orthodoxy embraces mystery as a sacred encounter with the living God-beyond full comprehension yet deeply knowable through communion. |

Various workshops and discussion groups will address a range of subjects, including men's issues, women's concerns, confession, the lives of saints, and spiritual formation. Beautiful and majestic divine services will be served by our metropolitan, two bishops, and numerous clergymen.
